Posted: Updated:

A North Las Vegas man was identified as the motorcyclist who died in a crash north of downtown Las Vegas on Thursday.

The Clark County Coroner's Office released the cause of death for 28-year-old Michael Wayne Herman Derryberry on Saturday as multiple blunt force trauma, and ruled the death an accident.

Las Vegas Metro police reported the incident on Lake Mead Boulevard near D Street just before 2 p.m.

Police said it appeared a 1999 Chevy Silverado was turning left westbound from Lake Mead to D Street when it was struck on the right side by a  2005 Honda CBR. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevy was not injured and remained at the scene.

Metro said it shut down Lake Mead between Revere and D Street.

This marks the 78th fatal traffic-related crash in Metro's jurisdiction in 2013.

The wreck happened hours before another motorcyclist died in a crash with a vehicle at Alexander Road and Lamb Boulevard.
