LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Transportation officials advised drivers to avoid a stretch of Interstate 215 near McCarran Airport during a two-week repaving project.

Clark County said the beltway between Interstate 15 and Windmill Lane was slated to be reduced from three lanes to two in each direction of the 215.

The westbound lanes began to be reduced on Monday and was expected to remain that way through Saturday.

The eastbound lanes were slated to be reduced on Monday, Oct. 21 through Saturday, Oct. 26. On and off ramps were also expected to be affected during the two-week operation.

Clark County advised drivers to avoid the affected stretch of highway, especially during rush hours.

Clark County said the repaving is part of the I-215 Airport Connector Phase 1 project, which calls for the widening of a section of the interstate and bridges over Paradise, Warm Springs and Robindale roads, as well as Duck Creek and the McCarran Airport Connector.

The project was slated to be complete by January. You can view more information on the project at www.AirportConnectorLV.com.
