A self-described prostitute claimed self-defense when she was arrested after the stabbing death of her pimp, according to Las Vegas Metro police.

In police documents, Lisa Renee Davis, 42, was arrested Saturday morning and charged with murder with a deadly weapon tied to the death of Sheldon "Sloan" Wesley.

Police said officers were called to an apartment in the 1000 block of Allure Drive in northwest Las Vegas at about 7 a.m. on reports of a stabbing. Officers there found Wesley suffering from two stab wounds to the chest. He was rushed to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Two other people who lived at the apartment told police the woman who stabbed Wesley fled the home and was hiding nearby, police documents showed. Police found Davis covered in blood and arrested her.

In documents, Davis was stated uttering while being arrested, "He was coming at me. I didn't know what to do, so I stabbed him."

In an interview with detectives, Davis told officers she has been working as a prostitute in Las Vegas since 1996 and met her boyfriend Wesley, a drug dealer, six years ago. Davis, though, said the relationship was abusive and claimed Wesley would often hit or rape her, documents showed. Davis also said Wesley was acting as her pimp, police wrote in documents.

Davis told police she had left the apartment a few weeks ago to get away from Wesley, who eventually found her working along Boulder Highway.

In the documents, Davis said she agreed to go with Wesley early Saturday morning to pick up her belongings and smoke crack cocaine. While at the apartment, Wesley had gotten drunk, which were times he would get violent, according to Davis in police documents.

Davis said she wanted to leave the apartment, which angered Wesley and prompted him to threaten her. Davis then armed herself with three knives – one kitchen knife and two smaller knifes, according to police.

During a confrontation, Davis threatened Wesley to stay back with a knife, resulting in her stabbing her left hand and breaking the tip of the blade, according to documents.

Wesley once again came at Davis, resulting in her stabbing the victim in the chest, documents showed. Wesley collapsed on a love seat and Davis, at the urging of her roommate at the home, fled, according to police.

When police informed her of Wesley's death, Davis became distraught, saying she still loved him, documents said.

After being treated at University Medical Center, Davis was booked into Clark County Detention Center.

The Clark County Coroner's office ruled Monday that the 45-year-old Wesley died as a result of a homicide.
