Kansas City, KS, police said the incident began Saturday afternoon on the western edge of the city.

Officers spotted the vehicle believed to be owned by the suspect on the east side of KCK, but when they tried to stop the vehicle, the suspect sped off into Kansas City, MO, where officers there joined the chase.

At times, police said the suspect was driving at speeds of 100 mph on Interstate 70. He also raced through downtown Kansas City at 70 mph.

According to KCTV5's Stacey Cameron, who was in the area at the time, the vehicle was a burgundy Dodge Charger. It went the wrong way down 10th Street, tried turning onto Eighth, turned sideways and nearly crashed into a pole and parked car.
