Cassandra Jones is the morning weather anchor on FOX5 News This Morning weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Cassandra comes to FOX5 from Santa Maria, CA, where she was the morning weather anchor for KION/KCBA-TV in Salinas and KCOY/KKFX-TV in Santa Maria. She also forecasted for the Spanish language show Telemundo. Before that she worked as a reporter and weekend weather anchor for the Salinas station.
During her time in Salinas, she covered everything from shootings, fires, agriculture and the Japanese tsunami that hit the Santa Cruz Harbor, causing millions of dollars in damage. After a year in Salinas she was given the opportunity to be the morning weather anchor at the company's sister station in Santa Maria, CA.
In addition to forecasting, Cassandra has hosted station food drives and telethons, emceed events and co-hosted a live Christmas parade.
Originally from the California Bay Area, Cassandra spent half of her life growing up on the sunny shores of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, before returning to her California roots eight years later.
She is a proud Arizona State University alum and earned her bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism with a minor in Spanish. She is currently taking courses through Mississippi State to obtain her meteorology certificate.
When Cassandra's not forecasting, you can find this newlywed hitting the trails with her new hubby and their two boxer pups - Chloe and Lily, soaking up the desert scenery and sunsets. She's also a foodie and enjoys trying new restaurants and whipping up new recipes.
