One of the most popular attractions at the Nashville Zoo is sitting still after some visitors said their ride took a crazy turn Thursday afternoon.
A zoo spokesman confirms to Channel 4 News that the driver of the Wilderness Express Train admits she was drunk when she took families on a ride.
The miniature train runs on a circular, concrete path rather than along metal tracks.
Rick Schwartz, president of the Nashville Zoo, said the 24-year-old train operator has been fired.
The train operator allegedly admitted to drinking at lunchtime Thursday before coming back to drive the train.
After making two circuits on the train, the operator apparently dropped some tokens and fell down trying to pick them up.
"We were notified at our Guest Services and went and relieved her," Schwartz said.
Zoo officials have not released the identity of the train operator.
