LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A second person killed in a crash near the Las Vegas Strip early Wednesday morning was identified Saturday.
The two-car crash happened about 1 a.m. near the intersection of Desert Inn and Paradise roads.
Sgt. Richard Strader, of Las Vegas Metro police, said one of the vehicles flipped and hit a palm tree, killing the two people inside. He said the driver of the second vehicle, identified as 24-year-old Hans Bludau, left the scene of the crash, but his vehicle broke down a short time later. They said Bludau then fled the scene on foot.
"He was taken into custody shortly after he fled the scene to one of the local hotels where he had checked in," Strader said.
One of the people killed in the crash was identified Thursday by the Clark County Coroner's Office as 21-year-old Jeanina Esser. The second person was identified by the coroner Saturday, as 31-year-old Miguel Lopez of Las Vegas.
Bludau was charged with driving under the influence, according to Tess Driver, spokeswoman for the Clark County District Attorney's Office. She said Bludau previously had spent two days in jail and was sentenced to DUI school, a victim-impact panel, a fine and community service, in connection with a DUI conviction in June.
