PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A 47-year-old county jail inmate was found dead in his cell early Sunday morning.
A Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman said Felix Martinez-Torres was found sitting and unresponsive by jail employees at the Towers jail facility at 3127 W. Gibson Lane in Phoenix shortly after midnight.
CPR was performed and the inmate was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Martinez-Torres was booked into the jail on Sept. 30 on warrants for driving on a suspended license and failure to appear, according to the spokesman.
The spokesman said detectives had interviewed the inmate's cellmates and that the investigation was continuing.
Martinez-Torres had a history of medical issues and no foul play was suspected, the spokesman said.
A cause of death will be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office.
