Govt shutdown forces cancellation of Henderson bike event

HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

It's the latest victim of the federal government shutdown.

The city of Henderson on Tuesday said the 60-mile Crazy Spokes ride slated for Saturday has been canceled because the course runs through national park property.

However, the city is encouraging people who signed up for the 60-mile course to participate in the 30-mile ride, which will feature a modified course through the River Mountains Loop Trail.

The city will issue refunds to everyone who signed up for the 60-mile course. Those choosing to participate in the 30-mile ride will receive a $10 refund.

To obtain a refund, call the city's Parks and Recreation Department at 702-267-4120.

In addition to the 30-mile ride, Crazy Spokes will include a festival from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., to include a lights and sirens bike parade at 11:30 a.m., at Mission Hills Park, 551 E. Mission Dr.
