The community came together Friday night to help a family heal.
Rockstar Snowcones in Henderson held a fundraiser to help the family of Elvira Gomez and her 9-year-old son, Cesar Navarro. Police say they were stabbed to death by Gomez's 16-year-old son, Adrian Navarro-Canales.
Many of the kids who attended the fundraiser are too young to comprehend what happened. The money raised will help the family with funeral expenses.
Earlier in the day, a cousin of the victims', Ana Martinez, visited Adrian Navarro-Canales in Clark County Detention Center.
"Adrian is just blank. He has no emotion, no feeling towards what happened," she said.
Martinez said she didn't discuss the slayings with the teen suspect.
"I haven't actually broke down to express how I'm missing my aunt and little cousin," Martinez said.
Martinez said she hopes her cousin gets medical help, and that any punishment would be devastating to her. What did comfort Martinez was witnessing community support Friday night.
There will be another fundraiser on Saturday at 9 a.m., a carwash in front of J & J Auto Sound, 1750 S Rainbow Blvd. in Las Vegas.
