LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Medical examiners concluded an infant who was under the care of a Las Vegas man died of abuse injuries as a result of a homicide.

The Clark County Coroner's office said the cause of death stemmed from abusive head trauma on 1-year-old Bently Olsen.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, the boy was hospitalized on May 19 after the infant's caretaker, 36-year-old Bransen Locks, reported the child being unresponsive. A warrant declaration for Locks said the man, who was dating the boy's mother, was taking care of the baby and his 5-year-old sister at the time while their mom was working.

Citing physicians and ambulance workers attending to Bently, police wrote in the declaration the boy's noticeable marks of trauma on his head. Bently died at University Medical Center on May 26.

Police also learned from the boy's sister possible history of abuse between Locks and the boy.

Locks was arrested on the same night as Bently's hospitalization on outstanding warrants not related to the abuse investigation, according to police.

Locks was charged with first-degree murder and two counts of abuse/neglect.
