LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A woman charged with murder in the slaying of her roommate told detectives she shot the victim after he had raped her a week before, according to an arrest report.
A report was released Monday for 26-year-old Mary Pitrello, who was detained following a shooting in southwest Las Vegas on Sept. 12.
According to the report, police arrived at an apartment complex in the 9000 block of West Warm Springs Road after a resident reported a shooting at his neighbor's unit.
There, police, in the report, found a man later identified as Oliver Doppert, 38, wounded from a gunshot. Detectives, in the report, saw that Doppert appeared to have been hit by a shotgun blast through a closed door in his bedroom.
The neighbor told police, in the report, he saw two women flee the apartment, one of them pointing a "long gun" at him. The neighbor said the armed woman was Doppert's roommate. The two women fled in Doppert's vehicle, the report stated the neighbor saying.
Police, in the report, were able to catch up with the roommate, who was identified as Pitrello, and the other woman at the Stratosphere hotel-casino shortly after police arrived at the apartment.
In an interview with detectives, Pitrello, in the report, admitted to the shooting, claiming Doppert had raped her a week before. She stated in the report that she didn't want him to do it again.
Police noted in the report Pitrello did not report the sexual assault and continued to live with Doppert. Police also learned Pitrello had been drinking at the apartment complex pool with a female friend and Doppert in the hours before the shooting.
The arrest report also stated details from Doppert's girlfriend who was on the phone with him at the exact moment of his shooting. The girlfriend said, in the report, Doppert relayed Pitrello was drunk at the time.
The report then stated the girlfriend recalling a "boom" on the other end of the line and the sound of her boyfriend falling to the ground.
Pitrello was booked into Clark County Detention Center for murder with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon and robbery with a deadly weapon.
