Police said an officer was shot in the leg during a scuffle with one of two men accused of breaking into a Las Vegas business Friday night.
The shooting happened about 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Cameron Street.
Las Vegas Metro police said officers were called to the business after someone reported two suspicious men who the caller thought were about to break through a fence at the business.
Police said one of the officers found a man inside the fenced area at the business and was trying to arrest him. They said the officer placed a handcuff on one of the man's wrist, but before he could place the second handcuff on the man, the man started struggling. They said the officer's gun went off during the scuffle, wounding the officer in his leg. They said other officers arrived and subdued the man.
Investigators said they are not sure if the gun accidentally fired or if the trigger was pulled.
A second person was also arrested at the scene, police said.
The officer's injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.
Neither the officer nor those arrested were immediately identified.
