PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A man was in critical condition after he was shot at a Phoenix hotel Thursday night.

The man checked into a room at the Traveler's Inn at 51st Avenue just south of Interstate 10 about 9:30 p.m. when two men knocked on his door and entered his room, said Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix Police Department.

Soon after, the victim made his way to the hotel lobby, where he collapsed. Thompson confirmed the man had been shot but didn't know whether he suffered more than one gunshot.

Thompson said investigators were interviewing witnesses, including one who claimed to have heard a gunshot.

The victim was taken to a Phoenix hospital.

Thompson said no motive had been determined by Friday morning.

No other information was immediately available.
