Posted: Updated:

Las Vegas radio personalities are calling on the community to help supply care packages that would be shipped to troops serving overseas.

Radio hosts Mark and Mercedes from Mix 94.1 are supporting the effort Wednesday to collect food items for the packages.

They ask folks to donate the following items:

  • Beef jerky/Slim Jims
  • Tuna packets
  • Power Bars
  • Breakfast bars/Pop Tarts
  • Nuts and dry fruit
  • Instant oatmeal
  • Pop corn
  • Gum/Candy
  • Soup
  • Cookies
  • Chips - small size
  • DVD's
  • Magazines (Current male and female)
  • Individual drink mix packets, such as Kool-Aid to Go or Crystal Light On the Go
  • Packaging tape
  • Pens
  • Signed cards from adults and children - addressed to any service member - do not seal notes/cards

Those items will be collected at Albertsons locations at Rainbow Boulevard and Warm Springs Road, Ann Road and U.S. 95 and Charleston Boulevard and Town Center Drive. The collections will take place through 5 p.m.

The care packages will support the Douglas J. Green Memorial Foundation's effort to provide 1,000 care packages.

In addition, volunteers are being sought to help stuff care packages beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the 24 Hour Fitness at 2090 Village Center Circle.
