Coroner identifies man shot in Vegas home Thursday

The Clark County coroner identified the man shot in a southeast Las Vegas home late Thursday, as 32-year-old Brandon Kuhn.

Las Vegas Metro police said the suspect Troy Martinez, 32, was booked into Clark County Detention Center after the reported shooting.

According to police, officers arrived at a home in the 1400 block of Amitola Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. after a man and woman requested emergency assistance from dispatchers but disconnected. Police said call backs from dispatchers went unanswered.

Officers arrived to find a man who was holding a handgun in front of a home, police said. Upon the arrival, that man quickly entered the home, exited the residence without a weapon and surrendered, according to Metro.

Police said officers searched the home to find a man lying in the master bedroom with gunshot wounds. The person died at the scene.

Metro said the victim appeared to be a visitor to the suspect's home when an altercation happened, leading to the shooting.

A spokesperson with Metro initially said two men, who are neighbors, were drinking and got into an argument. They said one of the men went to his house, got a gun, came back outside and shot the other man.

The suspect, later identified as Martinez, was charged with a count of murder with a deadly weapon.

Police also said they were able to recover a handgun they believed may be the one used in the shooting.
