North Las Vegas police are slated to keep an eye on crosswalks Friday during a pedestrian safety event.
According to police, an enforcement period targeting drivers and walkers who illegally cross streets is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Police said officers will focus on drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks as well as address walkers who are crossing outside of a marked crosswalk.
Meanwhile, the police department is also touting its results during a pre-Labor Day driving under the influence checkpoint.
NLVPD said officers detained 11 people for driving under the influence during a pre-Labor Day weekend sobriety checkpoint.
NLVPD checked more than 3,400 vehicles at the checkpoint that took place at Cheyenne Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard on Aug. 30. The police department said it was joined by members of Las Vegas Metro and Nevada Highway Patrol.
