Vegas school lockdowns lifted in shooting investigation

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Lockdowns at four schools were lifted amid a shooting investigation in northeast Las Vegas Tuesday.

Las Vegas Metro police said they first received calls of multiple gunshots fired just after 10 a.m. in the 4500 block of Little Finch Lane, near Owens Avenue and Marion Drive.

According to police, officers arrived to find no suspects or victims. Citing witnesses, though, police said officers were told a brown van was seen leaving the area.

Police then were directed to a vehicle accident involving a van of the same description at Marion and Judson Avenue. Officers detained the driver of the van, but police did not say how the person was involved in the earlier incident.

Police said they were looking for an outstanding suspect.

The investigation into the shooting prompted at least four schools to be placed on lockdown, including Tate, Sandy Miller, Diaz and Cortez elementary schools. The lockdowns were lifted just before 12:30 p.m., police said.

Metro urged people to stay away from the area due to roadways being closed from the investigation.
