The Clark County coroner on Monday identified the victim of a weekend crash in Henderson as Brian Jared Peters, 23, of Henderson.

Police said Peters was killed early on Saturday morning when the car he was riding in slammed into a brick wall at Pebble Road and Carnegie Drive.

Investigators said it appears the driver, identified as Arnold Cheung, 24, of Henderson, was speeding in a BMW 550i as he approached the intersection.

Peters and Cheung became trapped in the vehicle. Peters died at the scene. Cheung was extracted from the BMW and taken to Sunrise Hospital.

Police told FOX5 a preliminary investigation indicated speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. Cheung will face a charge of DUI with death if tests reveal his blood alcohol level was over the legal limit.

Peters graduated from the University of Mississippi, was an all-star lacrosse player and was hoping to get a job in casino marketing.

"He was everything," said Amanda McQuady, who is Peters' friend. "He was the most amazing person inside and out."

According to McQuady, Cheung is a full-time student at the College of Southern Nevada and wants to transfer to University of Nevada Las Vegas.

"I can't imagine what Arnold is going through," said McQuady. "He was his best friend. I wish I could have told Peters I loved him one last time. Please don't drink and drive. It's not worth it. It's so not worth it."

McQuady has organized a candlelight vigil at the crash site Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. McQuady said Cheung is still in the intensive care unit at Sunrise Hospital, undergoing hip reconstruction surgery.
