Driver sought in scooter accident Saturday

Metro police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that struck a man on a scooter Saturday, leaving him in critical condition.

The accident occurred on Rainbow Blvd. at the intersection of Alta Dr just after 2:30 a.m.

According to police, a black 2012 Yamaha scooter was in the left travel lane of Rainbow Blvd., stopped at the intersection of Alta Dr. An unidentified black vehicle was traveling northbound on Rainbow Blvd. at the intersection of Alta Dr., passing the scooter on the left. The unidentified vehicle side]swiped the scooter causing the scooter operator to be ejected.

The driver of the scooter sustained critical injuries and was transported to University Medical Center by medical personnel.

The driver of the unidentified vehicle failed to remain at the scene and was last seen traveling northbound on Rainbow Blvd.

The unidentified vehicle is described as a black or dark colored 2005 Ford sedan.
