BOULDER CITY, NV (FOX5) -

Boulder City police announced Thursday the arrest of a 67-year-old man accused of multiple counts of lewdness with juveniles.

According to BCPD, Peter Bennett was charged with six counts of open and gross lewdness as a result of a warrant issued from Boulder City Justice Court.

At the Boulder City Horsemen's Association stables, where Bennett spent much of his time, rumors surrounding his arrest have spread like wildfire.

Dan Conred, who has known Bennett for years said he is not all that surprised.

"Just kind of had my doubts about it all anyway… if you're a grown man, you know you don't have any business running up and down the road with underage girls," Conred said.

Conred said Bennett often allowed teenage girls to ride his horses to practice barrel racing and several times he took them on road trips.

"Makes people wonder what's going on, he's going to these rodeos in northern Nevada that are a day or two away and you've got to kinda wonder where every body is staying and what's going on," Conred said.

Boulder City Police said Bennett tried to kidnap and sexually assault at least one victim at the stables.

But detectives believe more victims could be out there.

"If your child has had alone time with Mr. Bennett I would ask that the parents bring the child in, and I would be more than happy to interview them," Detective Tiffany Driscoll with the Boulder City Police Department said.

Property records show Bennett lives on Bronco Road in Boulder City.

"I just can't believe it's six counts, and then somebody that lives so close," said Jennifer Hudson, who has lived across the street from Bennett for years.

In that time, Hudson said he has hosted several foreign exchange students who were always high school aged European girls that seldom left the house.

"And I have kids running around here all the time, and who knows what could have happened," Hudson said.

Police urged anyone with information to contact BCPD Detective Tiffany Driscoll at 702-293-9297 or tdriscoll@bcnv.org.
