Posted: Updated:

Several people were stung by bees at a home in North Las Vegas on Thursday morning, according to officials.

The incident happened just after 11 a.m. at 3731 Alderwood Dr.

Capt. Cedric Williams, of the North Las Vegas Fire Department, said a mail carrier was stung by the bees and then went to neighboring homes, seeking help. He said by the time help arrived, four people had been stung.

Williams said the mail carrier was stung badly enough that he had to be taken to University Medical Center for treatment. Officials said he was in stable condition.

Williams said it takes about eight hours for the swarm to dissipate. He said beekeepers were called in and were able to capture the queen of the hive.

North Las Vegas fire noted the bees appeared to have originated from a residence and was found in furniture outside the home.

Fire crews were able to control the bees with foam, according to fire officials.
