PHOENIX (CBS5/AP) -

An Arizona inmate serving a life sentence for murder has been found dead in his cell at a state prison in Florence.

The Department of Corrections says 28-year-old Miguel Sanchez apparently killed himself.

Spokesman Bill Lamoreaux says Sanchez was found unresponsive in his cell Tuesday. Lamoreaux says further information on circumstances of the death aren't immediately available.

The department will investigate the death in consultation with the Pinal County medical examiner's office.

Sanchez was convicted of murder, armed robbery, arson and other crimes in Maricopa County Superior Court in the 2009 robbery and killing in Glendale of Paul Kapitz, a co-worker at an auto dealership.

Sanchez was serving a life sentence.

He came to Arizona Department of Corrections custody on March 5, 2012.
