The homeowner said that he had just returned home from work and found a man, later identified as Dustin Applegate, asleep in his bed. Applegate was also wearing the homeowner's clothes and had the homeowner's shotgun laying next to him on the bed.
Applegate awoke and reached for the shotgun. The homeowner was able to take the shotgun away and detained Applegate.
During the investigation it was found that Applegate forced his way into the home and had started to gather up items from the residence and place them in a backpack prior to falling asleep.
Applegate was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Portage Jail. Applegate has been charged with aggravated burglary.
