Coroner names both bodies found in desert Saturday
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Police are investigating 2 bodies found in the desert Friday night.
Officers responded to a desert area near East Lake Mead Boulevard about three miles east of Hollywood Boulevard at approximately 9:45 p.m. to investigate a report of a male lying outside of a vehicle and a female inside the vehicle who appeared to be dead.
Both the man and woman were found dead at the scene from apparent gunshot wounds, according to Police.
The Clark County Coroner confirmed Sunday, the man has been identified as 25-year-old Omar Cruz from Las Vegas. He died from a gunshot wound to the chest and the manner was ruled a suicide.
The woman has been identified as 22-year-old Sinthia Stephanie Cruz from Las Vegas. She died from multiple gunshot wounds and the manner was ruled a homicide.
Responding Homicide detectives learned that at approximately 7 p.m. the LVMPD Dispatch Center had received a call that a female had been taken from her home by her ex-boyfriend at the 300 block of Steelhead Lane.
It was during the time that detectives were investigating this call that the report of the bodies was made. Detectives have determined the people and the vehicle located in the desert area were in fact subjects of the earlier call to police.
Members of the household living with Sinthia told FOX5 off camera that Omar was mad at her because she owed him money. They also told us she was pregnant and leaves behind 3 children.
