LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Authorities said the man whose body was found in an east Las Vegas dumpster died as a result of a homicide.

The Clark County Coroner's Office said Wednesday the body belongs to 50-year-old Carl Pane Simon. Simon died from asphyxiation and blunt head trauma, medical examiners ruled.

Simon's body was found Monday near the intersection of East Lake Mead and North Nellis boulevards, according to Las Vegas Metro police.

Police did not have details on how the body ended up in the dumpster.

Police urged anyone with information about the body to contact Metro's Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
