LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A man whose body was found in a dumpster Monday in east Las Vegas appeared to have died from non-natural causes, according to police.

Las Vegas Metro police disclosed those details a day after the discovery near the intersection of East Lake Mead and North Nellis boulevards.

Police did not have details on how the body ended up in the dumpster.

"We have homicide investigators canvassing the area, talking to people to see what they might've seen [and] what they know," said Las Vegas Metro Sgt. Annette Darr on Monday.

Police said the dumpster has been taken for analysis.

Neighbors left flowers Tuesday at the site of where the body was discovered.

"For somebody to just think that they can take your life and then throw you in a dumpster," said Laura Torres who lives in the neighborhood. "I can't sleep."

"I'm shocked because it could happen to any of us," said Nine-year-old Alexandra Torres.

Neighbors say they are baffled by the circumstances.

"It's 150 yards from my house," said James Miller who lives in the neighborhood. "Nobody heard or saw anything."

"I couldn't believe it," said Tammy King who also lives in the neighborhood. "The dumpster is less than two houses down and it was unbelievable. How long was the body there?"

The Clark County Coroner's office is expected to release the name of the victim as well as his cause and manner of death.

Police urged anyone with information about the body to contact Metro's Homicide Section at 702-828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
