Police said a 32-year-old man was armed with a rifle when he led police on a chase that forced the closure of Interstate 15.

An arrest report was released Tuesday detailing the chase that ended in the detainment of Enrique Flores on Aug. 4.

In the Las Vegas Metro police report, the chase stemmed from reports of a black pick-up truck that was involved in several incidents in which a man pointed a weapon at people.

The latest of the incidents, the report said, was in the 6100 block of W. Lake Mead Boulevard. Employees at a KFC there said, in the report, they saw a man with a firearm in the parking lot.

Police in the area saw a pick-up truck and attempted to stop the driver just before 10 p.m. on Jones Boulevard. The vehicle kept driving, ignoring commands to pullover.

Police said multiple officers used spike strips and the Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT) in the area of Mesquite Avenue and Rancho Drive to stop Flores' vehicle.

The arrest report said the suspect entered U.S. 95, crossed multiple lanes of the highway and continued onto Interstate 15 southbound.

It wasn't until around the area of the interstate at Sahara Avenue that the suspect, in the report, slowed and came to a stop.

Multiple officers had weapons drawn on the suspect's vehicle. An officer, in the report, said they knew the suspect was armed and had a tactical advantage during the short standoff, prompting a SWAT team to be called.

The suspect, who was later identified as Flores, exited the vehicle without incident and was taken into custody.

Police stated in the report a rifle was found on the driver's side floorboard.

Police said he was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries. The Clark County Detention Center inmate database showed his arrest date as Aug. 5.

Flores was charged with possession of a gun by a prohibit person, resisting a public officer with a deadly weapon and disobeying a peace officer while endangering other people and property.

A records check showed Flores had prior felony convictions in California.
