Las Vegas city leaders slated for National Night Out

The city of Las Vegas announced a slate of events being planned Tuesday for National Night Out.

The city said Mayor Carolyn Goodman and city council members will make appearances at events as part of the crime prevention and community awareness day.

Goodman and Mayor Pro Tem Stavros Anthony are expected to attend a celebration at 5:30 p.m. in the Desert Shores neighborhood at 2500 Regatta Dr. In addition, the two will be on hand for the Sun City Desert Vista event at 6:45 p.m. at 10360 Sun City Blvd. The event is open to Sun City residents, the city said.

Clark High School will play host to Ward 1 Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian and a planned safety fair at 6:30 p.m. The event will provide back-to-school immunizations from the Southern Nevada Health District. Clark High School is located at 4291 W. Pennwood Ave.

Ward 3 Councilman Bob Coffin is expected to be on hand for an ice cream social for residents in the Crossroads community in the 400 block of N. Lamb Boulevard. The event is slated for 5:30 p.m.

Coffin is also expected to address the Charleston Village community at 4229 Wales Green Lane at 6 p.m.

Coffin's night will wrap up at the Las Vegas Metro police Downtown Area Command COP Block Party at 621 N. 9th St. at 7:15 p.m.

Kelly Elementary School will host the Safe Summer Nights event featuring Ward 5 Councilman Ricky Barlow at 6 p.m.
