LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A motorcyclist who was ejected from his bike after rear-ending a car in west Las Vegas was identified Friday.

The Clark County Coroner's office identified the person who died in the incident early Thursday as 30-year-old Jay Corpuz Abalos.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, Abalos' death stemmed from an incident that happened about 4 a.m. on Desert Inn Road near Monte Carlo Way.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling in the leftmost lane while a Nissan Altima was traveling in the right lane. The motorcycle was changing lanes to the right lane but could not avoid hitting the rear end of the Nissan.

The motorcyclist was rushed to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident marked the 58th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
