A 56-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle and an SUV collided in the far north Valley on Thursday morning.
The motorcyclist was traveling west on the Carefree Highway about 8 a.m. when a Nissan Armada pulled out to turn left from 14th Street onto the highway, said Officer Christopher Hegstrom of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
Hegstrom said the SUV's 34-year-old driver said he initially didn't see any oncoming traffic, but as he pulled into the intersection, he saw the motorcycle.
The motorcycle collided with the driver's side of the SUV.
Hegstrom said the victim was not wearing a helmet. He said neither speed nor impairment were believed to be factors.
No names were released.
