LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Traffic was backed up and voices were loud as union culinary workers and bartenders staged their fourth picket of 2013 on the Las Vegas Strip Wednesday.

Culinary Union Local 226 and Bartenders Union Local 165 demonstrated in front of the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The protest began at 5 p.m. and wrapped at 7 p.m.

The groups said the picket came in the midst of ongoing negotiations and because workers have been working without a contract for two years.

"It's been two years. We just want to finish this out and get the benefits that the rest of the Strip has," Cosmopolitan worker George Sproule said.

Sproule is frustrated with his place of employment, saying it is difficult working every day knowing his benefits aren't the same as other workers on the Strip.

"To maintain at the same level, we have to pay a lot out of pocket, and also we're funding our own retirement," Sproule said. "They're a large corporation, and they're just trying to save money."

Similar protests had forced lane closures in January, March and June.

In response to Wednesday's picket, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas released the following statement:

"The Cosmopolitan management has been in ongoing talks with the Union and continues to negotiate in good faith. As always, our highest priority is the safety and comfort of our guests and CoStars and we will continue to work with the authorities."

The CSEA union members say Las Vegas should take lessons from California's style of negotiations.

"We sit down with our employers. We sit down. We talk about fair budgeting. We talk about what employees do and how productive we are," said Benjamin Gamboa, CSEA union member.

Until a deal occurs, workers say they will continue to protest.

"We're going to prevail. This is our fourth rally, I believe. We've brought the numbers every time," Sproule said. "We're showing them more and more that we want this, we deserve it."
