LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police are seeking the driver of a red sport utility vehicle who struck a bicyclist and took off.

According to police, the incident happened near the corner of Christy Lane and Lake Mead Boulevard just before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Citing witnesses, police said the 46-year-old woman on the bicycle was traveling eastbound on Lake Mead, crossing over Christy Lane on a green traffic signal.

A red or maroon SUV traveling northbound on Christy failed to stop for the red traffic signal, turned left onto Lake Mead and struck the bicyclist, police said.

Witnesses told police the SUV failed to stop and fled the scene.

The bicyclist was taken to University Medical Center with minor injuries.

Police urge anyone with information on the vehicle or the incident to contact Metro's Accident Investigation Section at 702-828-3342 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
