Police: Armed robbery crew targeting seniors

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Metro police are sending a warning to the Valley's senior citizens. They are the target of a group of robbers, and police are on high alert.

The robberies have been happening across the Valley for three weeks now. Police said nearly a dozen people, mostly older victims, have been robbed, even assaulted at their homes.

Police said the men have stolen anywhere from $200 to $1,000 from victims. At this point, Metro has no suspects and is hoping someone in the community will come forward with information.

Police said the robberies began on July 4. The victims had been out shopping or otherwise enjoying their day when they were followed home.

When the victims got home and began unloading groceries from their vehicles or getting something out of the trunk, the men attacked, stealing money.

Stephan Tilly, 79, was attacked on Wednesday evening by two men.

"I've never seen so much blood before in one place," Tilly said.

Tilly was out shopping. When he got back to his house, he was attacked before he could even get out of his car.

"I put one foot outside the car and then he grabbed me, kicked me down the floor," he said.

Tilly said it happened so quickly the incident is a blur.

"I couldn't identify them. They had my hands over my face, and the other guy was holding on to my feet. I don't know what they did, but I tell ya there was blood everywhere," he said.

Police said the men are armed and very dangerous, using semi-automatic handguns. It's believed the men are between 25 and 35.

Police said that if you think someone is following you, call 911 and do not go directly to your home.

If you have any information about these crimes, you're urged to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555. You may also leave information online at www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
