Maine authorities search for missing Brentwood woman

Posted: Updated:

SANDY RIVER PLANTATION, Maine (AP) - As crews continue searching for a Tennessee woman who disappeared while hiking the Appalachian Trail in Maine, investigators are seeking information from other hikers.

Maine Warden Service Corp. John MacDonald said Saturday investigators need to speak with the hikers to determine if 66-year-old Geraldine Largay was seen between the Poplar Ridge Lean-To and the Spaulding Mountain Lean-To. Bear baiters in the area have been asked to be on the lookout for her.

Largay, of Brentwood, Tenn., was supposed to meet her husband Monday in Wyman Township in western Maine but never showed up. Hikers adopt trail names, and she uses "inchworm."

Investigators want to talk to hikers who use the names "Cowboy," ''Marathon," Postman," ''Breeze," ''Paranoid," ''Crunchmaster," ''Harpo/Groucho," ''Ice Pack/SOBO '13," ''Luke 11:9," ''Sandman," ''BBTGR," and ".com/Queen."
