LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Authorities said they were seeking a man suspected of taking more than 100 decorative sidewalk lights in downtown Las Vegas with the intent to sell them to area recyclers.

According to the city's Deputy City Marshal Unit, 31-year-old Antwon Maurice Simmons was being sought in connection to theft of 147 brass light structures. The unit said the lights, which are estimated at about $580 each, were installed to illuminate trees along Fourth Street between Colorado and Bridger avenues.

Investigators linked Simmons and 47-year-old Michael Payne to the investigation when employees of a local recycler determined the brass pieces from the lights were suspicious after the pair allegedly tried to sell them.

Payne was booked into Clark County Detention Center on July 12 on charges including theft and possession of stolen property in connection to the case, the Deputy City Marshal Unit said.

Authorities described Simmons as black, 6' with black hair and brown eyes. Investigators said Simmons is known to frequent sports books and may be in the company of a woman.

They urged anyone with information on Simmons to contact 702-229-3223 or email mmccoy@lasvegasnevada.gov.
