LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Who could imagine a move to Las Vegas would be beneficial for one's quality of life?

Handlers of a sea turtle rescued off the coast of south Florida hope a move to the Shark Reef Aquarium on the Las Vegas Strip will help the aquatic reptile.

The aquarium at Mandalay Bay resort-casino received "OD" at 5:45 p.m. Thursday via FedEx shipment.

OD, who suffers from a collapsed lung, cannot be released into the wild, causing his handlers to look elsewhere for an improved living environment. They hope the Shark Reef will be stimulating for OD and can help improve his quality of life.

His handlers estimate OD as about 50 years old. They say sea turtles can live up to 100 years old. OD weighs in at 320 pounds.

The Shark Reef also said OD has been placed into a standard 45-day quarantine. After that, the sea turtle will be OK to go on display at the aquarium.
