LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A man was jaywalking across Boulder Highway when he was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday, Las Vegas Metro police said.

According to police, the incident was reported just before 9:30 p.m. on Boulder, south of Sun Valley Drive.

Police, citing witnesses and evidence at the scene, said the man was crossing from east to west on the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk.

A Nissan traveling southbound on the highway struck the pedestrian, throwing him forward, police said.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, who stayed at the scene, sustained minor injuries.

The incident marked the 56th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
