LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

An attorney for former Clark County Deputy District Attorney David Schubert confirmed the embattled prosecutor was found dead in his Mountain's Edge home Wednesday.

A representative for the Clark County Coroner's Office said they were called to 8448 Cambrils Ave. A spokesman for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said investigators from the department were also called to that address.

Schubert, who was best known for prosecuting drug cases against Paris Hilton and Bruno Mars, tried to flee the country while awaiting sentencing for his own 2011 drug charge. His arrest also resulted in the loss of his job at the district attorney's office.

Louis Schneider, Schubert's attorney, said he believes Schubert committed suicide several weeks ago. He said Schubert's phone had been disconnected for nearly three weeks.

Schubert's neighbors told FOX5's Doug Johnson that they noticed a boat and cars that were originally in his yard were now gone. They said they believe Schubert was selling them.

"A man came up who was a bail bonds man looking for him," said one of the neighbors, who didn't want to be identified.

Schneider said Schubert wasn't dealing well with the end of his career and the charges against him.
