FLAGSTAFF, AZ (CBS5/AP) -

Storms packing heavy rain began approaching the Valley from the north late Tuesday afternoon, CBS 5 chief meteorologist Chris Dunn said.

Heavy rain began falling in Cave Creek and Carefree at around 5 p.m. He said the storms were on track to enter Fountain Hills over the dinner hour.

"Once again, like on Monday, the rain that falls will be spotty," Dunn said. "Where it does occur, people can expect to see half an inch or more."

Dunn said there was not any blowing dust accompanying the rain. He said the storm cells could remain active throughout the night.

The high in Phoenix on Tuesday hit 104 degrees.

Earlier in the day, roadway crews cleaned up debris after flooding rains hit parts of Coconino County,

'Up to 3 inches of rain fell as a moist and unstable air mass remained over northern Arizona.

One of the hardest hit areas was Offenhaufer Drive and Highway 89, Dunn said. It's still passable and road crews were working to clear off the debris.

At about 2 p.m., between 1 inch and 2.32 inches of rain fell over areas scarred by last year's Gladiator Fire in Yavapai County.

Several people reported seeing a tornado in Winslow, east of Flagstaff, at about 7 p.m. Monday, Dunn said. No damage was reported.

Also on Monday, lightning struck and injured several people who were visiting Mather Point at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

The Grand Canyon Visitors Center said that several people were standing near the rim when the lightning hit. The South Rim Clinic evaluated four people who had non-life-threatening injuries.
