Motorcyclist killed in west Vegas wreck ID'd

Authorities released the name of a 19-year-old motorcyclist who died after being struck by a vehicle in west Las Vegas Monday.

The Clark County Coroner's office said Amir Akram Elkhechen died of multiple blunt force injuries as a result of an accident.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, Elkhechen, who was operating a 2004 Kawasaki sports bike, was traveling southbound on Durango Road approaching Starboard Drive just after 10 p.m.

Police said a northbound Cadillac that was attempting to make a left turn onto Starboard.

The Cadillac was in the path of the bike when it made the turn. The motorcycle struck the vehicle on the car's right side, Metro said.

Elkhechen was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police noted the accident resulted in the 54th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.

Police said the two occupants of the Cadillac sustained minor injuries.
