LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A man charged with attempted murder after police say he pushed a female officer over a guardrail last month is slated to appear in a Las Vegas court Friday.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. in Las Vegas Justice Court for 55-year-old Randell Reed Overstreet.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, Overstreet was arrested on June 5 in the 3300 block of Fremont Street after a foot pursuit at the Ponderosa Motel with an officer.

Police said, in an arrest report, the officer attempted to pull over Overstreet who was in an unregistered vehicle. Overstreet, in the report, ignored the officer and kept traveling until he ditched the vehicle near the motel.

The report states at least three people, including another officer in the area, saw the pursuit. The witnesses all said, in the report, the suspect went up the stairs, tried kicking the pursuing officer about midway up and was able to push the officer by the shoulders hard enough to cause her to fall off the side of guardrail near the second floor landing.

Police said the fall was nearly 10 feet and the officer landed on her back.

Police, in the report, were able to arrest the suspect identified as Overstreet after he locked himself in a motel room being rented by him. In the report, Overstreet was located at an adjoining motel parking lot after fleeing from a room window.

Metro police also said Overstreet was about 6'5" and about a foot bigger than the officer in the pursuit. Taking that and the fact the area of the fall was concrete with curbs, police, in the report, booked Overstreet on an attempted murder charge.

Overstreet was also charged battery, possession of a controlled substance, driving an unregistered vehicle, obstructing a public officer and failure to stop on signal of a police officer.
