Former Sen. Jon Kyl's communications director and spokesman is taking on the same role for Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer as the governor's current spokesman departs for a private industry job.
Andrew Wilder worked for Kyl as press secretary and communications director from 1999 until last year. He worked on the 2012 campaign of now-Sen. Jeff Flake and joined the state Corrections Department as communications director in April.
He's replacing Brewer press aide Matthew Benson. Benson is leaving for a job with the lobbying, public relations and business development firm Veridus LLC in Phoenix. He'll serve as a director and specialize in communications and public affairs.
The communications director oversees all of Brewer's media contacts and serves as her chief spokesman.
