A city resident was arrested early Saturday morning after authorities allege she threw a Molotov cocktail, or firebomb, at a sport utility vehicle.
The incident happened shortly after 4 a.m. on Lionel Benoit Road.
Dennis Leger, aide to Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant, told CBS 3 that witnesses identified Juliana Gonzales as the suspect.
CBS 3 media partner Mass Live and The Republican reported the 24-year-old allegedly firebombed the vehicle to punish her ex-boyfriend.
When the fire department arrived to the location, they saw a badly burned vehicle and an incendiary device.
Gonzales will be charged with arson and threatening to commit a crime.
She will be arraigned in Springfield District Court on Monday.
