Not everyone is enjoying a long holiday weekend. Employees at Antonio's on State Street in Springfield were working Friday. Unfortunately, it was hotter inside the restaurant than it was outside.
Around 2 p.m. Friday, the thermometer inside Antonio's read 94 degrees.
Owner Greg Vatrano said he tries to keep things cooler when the temperatures top the 90s by turning off lights and adding another air conditioner.
With a pizza oven running at more than 500 degrees, a deep fat fryer and a skillet running all day, it doesn't take long for the mercury to rise.
Employee Kristen Bates has been working at the restaurant for some time and said this is not the first time she and her fellow workers have dealt with this kind of weather, but that doesn't make it any easier.
Bates said she drinks plenty of fluids and puts a wet towel on her neck every once in a while to keep cool.
