LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Smoke from fireworks displays planned on the Fourth of July may cause poor air quality in the Las Vegas Valley, according to officials.

The Clark County Department of Air Quality issued an air quality advisory for the region through Independence Day.

Officials said smoke and ozone levels will increase due to fireworks displays, outdoor barbecues and wildfires in the area.

People with respiratory diseases, like bronchitis and asthma, should stay indoors, officials said.

Residents are encouraged to fill up their gas tanks after sunset, not to unnecessarily idle their car engines and use mass transit or carpool when possible.
