LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Southern Nevada health officials have detected mosquitoes with West Nile, marking the first such detection of the virus this year.

According to the Southern Nevada Health District, mosquitoes collected in the 89014 zip code, which encompasses North Green Valley and parts of Henderson west of U.S. 95, tested positive for the virus.

Officials said there are no human cases reported in Clark County yet.

In 2012, eight human cases were reported in the area. One of those cases resulted in death, SNHD said.

Officials urged prevention in protecting residents from the virus. You can view tips to prevent against West Nile at SNHD's website.
