LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The jury in the Las Vegas trial of former endoscopy clinic owner Dipak Desai has found him guilty on all 27 counts.

Those counts included second-degree murder, patient neglect and theft.

The charges are in connection with the 2007 Las Vegas hepatitis C outbreak, the largest in U.S. history.

Desai and his assistant, Ronald Lakeman, were led out of the courtroom in handcuffs.

The former doctor remained stoic while the verdict was read. Desai's family, however, was distraught as it became clear he would be convicted of everything from murder to fraud and criminal neglect.

Victim Rodolfo Meana was infected and died last year.

Lakeman, a nurse anesthetist who was visibly upset in the courtroom, was found guilty on 16 counts but not guilty on 11 others, including murder.

FOX5 legal analyst Bob Massi said the case will be appealed but also sends the message our community will not tolerate such actions.

Seven patients were at the center of the criminal case. If more people die in connection with the hepatitis C outbreak, Desai could face additional murder charges.

Desai's sentencing is set for September.
