The Clark County coroner on Monday identified a man whose body was discovered 30 feet down a ridge near Nelson Road in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Manuel Stanley Vargas, 26, lived in North Las Vegas.

Police said that at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday a visitor notified a park ranger about having seen a man wandering the desert near Placer Cove Road. Park rangers, along with members of a wildland fire crew and Metro Search and Rescue, began searching the area.

Crews located the body just after 8 p.m.
