Sergeant Roderick Hunt is 48 years of age, and has been employed with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since September, 1989. He is currently assigned to the LVMPD Emergency Operations Bureau, SWAT Section.

Officer Jay James is 40 years of age, and has been employed with the LVMPD since March, 2000. He is currently assigned to the LVMPD Emergency Operations Bureau, SWAT Section.

The shooting occurred while the officers were executing a search warrant connected to an investigation into child pornography.
